2015 Oscar Dresses

So I didn't watch most of the Oscar's this year, but I did take the time to roundup some of my favorite dresses. This year, I thought there was more I didn't like than those that I was completely wowed by - did anybody else feel this way? So here it goes...

(Above) Emma Stone and Jennifer Aniston. The embellishment on Emma's dress was amazing in my opinion and Jennifer's was such a flattering nude, she never does wrong in my book.

Anthropologie Home Finds

It's no secret that I love ANTHROPOLOGIE. And not just for the clothes, it's actually mostly for the home decor. Every time I pop by, there are about 100 things I want, but I somehow manage to demonstrate some self restraint. Here are a few items I found that I've got my eye on...

Whiskey Hound Dog

To continue our Valentines celebration this weekend, I took my boyfriend to a few new bars that were out of his usual norm. Both places MAYSVILLE and FLATIRON ROOM (written about HERE), cater to whiskey drinkers with over 800 different whiskeys available. Being an avid margarita drinker, I decided to steer away from my usual orders and go out on a whim and try something new. Luckily the bartender was very knowledgeable and pointed me in the right direction towards a whiskey cocktail. With a little bite to start, I actually ended up really liking it. And lucky for you, it's easy to make at home!

Whiskey Hound Dog

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 1/2 oz whiskey (or bourbon if you prefer)
  • 1/4 oz honey
  • 1/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • Mint leaf

Instructions:
Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Pour into glass and garnish with mint leaf.

Shades of Grey

Grey doesn't always mean prison grey. In fact, there are so many different shades of grey with different undertones that you can find one to work in any space in your home. From your kitchen, bedroom, living room, or bathroom, the key is to paint plenty of swatches in areas that get different light so you won't be surprised after the fact. The pictures below show that grey is definitely a new neutral.

Banana Republic Baby

Under the creative direction of Marissa Webb, BANANA REPUBLIC has been killing it lately and as it only continues to get better and better, it's quite fitting that she has decided to debut a limited edition, 13 piece capsule collection. Available online February 25th, New Yorkers can shop the capsule as early as Wednesday, February 18th in the Fifth Avenue store. Prices will range from $24 to $198 and won't sacrifice on style or quality for your little ones. Seriously, check out that cableknit set, absolutely precious.

Marc Tetro

Have you heard of MARC TETRO? I stumbled across his work in a bookstore and, being an extreme dog lover, I thought they were just the cutest things. Now, I'm very, very biased and partial to anything that contains labs or just labs in general, but I loved all of his prints. They would certainly make for a fantastic gift for any dog lover.

If You Could Go Anywhere

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be? Somewhere far away and exotic? Or somewhere close that you've never been before? A few places I would chose to answer that question with are Big Sur, Patagonia, and Bali. All offer vastly different experiences (and travel times), but certainly don't sacrifice on breathtaking views. I hope to visit ALL of these places in my lifetime.

No-Bake Energy Bites

While perusing recipes on a recent snow day, I stumbled across this simple batch of NO-BAKE ENERGY BITES. Luckily I had all the ingredients on hand and in less than an hour, I had a delicious snack. I also found these perfect to grab and eat with my morning coffee/tea at work. Simple snack and simple breakfast. A win-win for me!

Pineapple

I can't help but think of warm weather when I see pineapples. So it's fitting that since I've been craving warmer weather that I can't stop seeing them everywhere - dresses, shirts, bathing suits, you name it and there's a pineapple slapped on it. Lucky for me though everything has been super cute.

Plated

After hearing great things from friends about similar services, my boyfriend and I decided to give PLATED a try and we couldn't have been happier. For those of you unfamiliar with PLATED, they send you fresh ingredients each week to make chef-approved recipes. The service alleviates the constant issue of buying too much and seeing it go to waste a week later because you can't use it quick enough. It is the perfect solution for those who want to learn how to cook, those who are looking to have delicious meals with everything readily available, and those who hate (NYC) grocery stores. A dream come true for me!

Cozy Spaces

Winter is in full force. It's cold, I can't hibernate, I can't take a vacation (yet), so what's a girl to do? Cuddle up and wish I could call one of these cozy spaces home.

Spaghetti Aglio E Olio

The grocery stores in NYC are the bane of my existence. It's one of the things about living in NYC that I hate. They're tiny, everything is overpriced, there is one cashier open and the line is 20 people deep, and you're stuck behind an old lady complaining about chicken being $4. Inevitably, I come home angry and missing half of the things I set out to purchase. Seeing as how that is the state of affairs, often times my boyfriend and I find ourselves with the bare minimum in our refrigerator. So what do you do when the last thing you'd rather brave is the grocery store checkout line? Stick to one of Ina's old standby recipes or, according to my Mom, my Nonny's recipe "because she's older."
