Located in the heart of the Meatpacking District you'll find a little slice of Northern Italian heaven at MACELLERIA. Fresh meats, handmade pastas, and mozzarella cheese so good it will make you cry, the entire menu is to die for. Definitely pricey, but worth it for a celebration dinner (new job for the boyfriend), we started with the burrata, baked eggplant, prosciutto di parma, and of course great wine. Then it was on to the main courses - spaghetti carbonara (him) and ravioli stuffed with butternut squash in a brown butter sauce (me), I have never had anything better. Ever.
Aside from food, the ambiance was fantastic. Any place that makes you feel like you're actually in Italy is good in my book. Exposed brick (my kryptonite here in NY), vintage decor, and lots of wine line the walls. All in all, MACELLERIA makes for one special night.
Lower floor - seriously, how cool is that ceiling?!?!? |
