July 2014 Beauty Finds

When it comes to summer beauty, you tend to think of products that protect your skin, are super bright colors, or are helping your makeup stay in place (an oil slick situation is no fun). But since I took care of that LAST MONTH, here are few finds that will reduce puffiness, make you smell nice, and give you a nice glow.

Scenes From Cape Cod

And we're back! After a much needed vacation to the Cape, I'm left feeling refreshed and restored tired and full. Drinking entirely too much wine and binge eating fresh lobster, bowls of clam chowder, and more carbs, carbs, carbs certainly has that affect on you. But aside from the eating and drinking, I got in a few beach days, went on a whale watch (amazing!), wandered around Provincetown, and enjoyed a rainy day at the vineyard. Make: Fried Eggplant Stacks

On my mission this summer to cook more and eat healthy, eggplant has been one of my go-to's. Yes, fried anything isn't the best, but this dish is an essentially carb-free, light meal. I could eat this all the time! My recipe is below. Eat up!

Weekly Roundup: July 18, 2014

Oh Friday, I'm so happy you're here. This week has been busy to say the least. There's been a lot going on and since I'm a constant worrier, I feel like I haven't gotten anything done. I'm looking forward to my cousin's wedding this weekend (350 people - Oh. Em. Gee) and for some R&R. Next week it's off to the Cape for a much needed vacation!

This is pretty EPIC. Way to go kid!

H&M will be launching their flagship store in NY on Fifth Avenue today at noon and this one location (for now we can hope!) will be carrying their home line. Have you shopped this collection yet? Happy weekend! Enjoying the day off and heading to the Greenwich Sidewalk Sales to find some good deals.

Make: Teriyaki Chicken

This TERIYAKI CHICKEN was one of the easiest recipes and certainly didn't lack in flavor. I swapped the honey with MIKE'S HOT HONEY and oh. my. God that definitely gave it an extra kick. Served over vegetable fried rice, this was a delicious weeknight meal for my BF and I. Enjoy the adapted recipe from CHOW below.

Drink: The Flatiron Room

I stopped by THE FLATIRON ROOM last night for drinks after work and immediately fell in love with this  classy place. Located in the heart of the Flatiron district, this spot is no trendy nightclub. Upon walking in you feel as though you're being transported back in time to a speakeasy. With one of the most extensive Whiskey collections on the East Coast, bottles line the shelves from floor to ceiling. You can casually sip your drink here (I had the Mule - delicious!) while enjoying some light jazz music. If you're a whiskey aficionado or just looking for a new place and a strong drink, give THE FLATIRON ROOM a try.

Lately, it has been so hot and humid in NYC that the easiest thing to throw on is a simple dress. And what could be better than a white hot dress? The choices are aplenty this season.

Go: Central Park Conservatory Garden

Isn't it crazy that this 6 acre garden exists in NYC? Located on the East Side from 104th-106th Streets, here you can enter this designated quiet zone and escape the hustle and bustle. The garden is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll or to sit yourself down and enjoy a good BOOK. As you walk around, take in the beautiful greenery and the gorgeous flowers. Half of the time I was in awe of the natural beauty and the other half I felt like I was in Jumanji. If you're unable to get there, check out the pics from my visit below.

Get Fit: BFX Studio

BFX STUDIO just opened in Chelsea last week and offers spinning classes, HIIT training, barre and yoga to their clientele. The studio BFX occupies is very spacious and spread across 2 floors. Being that it is brand spankin' new everything is in pristine condition. Floors were sparkling, equipment looked clean, and there is even an iPad bar to take advantage of. If you were lucky enough to sign up early, you were able to snag a few free classes in the luxe, boutique fitness studio. I totally took advantage of this opportunity and went to 2 spin classes- ultraRIDE and classicRIDE.
