If You Could Go Anywhere

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be? Somewhere far away and exotic? Or somewhere close that you've never been before? A few places I would chose to answer that question with are Big Sur, Patagonia, and Bali. All offer vastly different experiences (and travel times), but certainly don't sacrifice on breathtaking views. I hope to visit ALL of these places in my lifetime.

A few weeks back, as I was doing some shopping in one of my favorite towns, Westport, CT, I stumbled into the lovely home design store DOVECOTE. Opened by Sarah Kaplan, the store features chic furniture, antiques, and furnishing picks which reflect the owner and designer's truly impeccable taste. Scenes From The Weekend: NYC Holiday Pop-Ups

This past weekend was awesome. Seriously, it was so fun that being back at work today is extra bitter. One of my best friends came in and we had GLAMSQUAD come to the apartment before hopping around to some holiday pop-ups including #73SPRINGSHOP and CUYANA, dinner at SCHILLER'S LIQUOR BAR, and then a boozy brunch on Sunday at MAYA. The perfect weekend, so yea, reality bites.

NYC Holiday Markets & Fairs

One of my favorite times of the year is when the holiday markets and fairs all open up in NYC. These temporary markets and fairs are, in my opinion, one of the best places to find unique and special gifts for friends and families. From jewelry to home decor, beauty, children's clothes, you can find whatever you're looking for at one of these markets. Check out my favorites below!

Terrain Daydreams

Long a fan of ANTHROPOLOGIE it's shocking that I hadn't ventured to TERRAIN before last weekend. After doing some serious shopping damage in Westport, my Mom and I decided to stop in as we were in need of caffeine and food. Luckily, this absolutely adorable home and garden store has a café situated amongst the endless inspiration that encompasses TERRAIN in its entirety. It's the perfect store to get lost in daydreaming about the garden you may or may not have. And if you don't have one, you'll want one after visiting. Trust me. If you're in the CT or PA area, take a stop in it's absolutely magical with the Christmas decor.

A gloomy Saturday was well spent this past weekend wandering around Old Mystic Seaport. Since the weather was such a let down, the turnout for Chowder Days was weak and the Seaport was almost deserted. But, have no fear, when you're with 2 of your close girlfriends and 1 husband, you're still in for a good time and lots of laughs. I hadn't been to Mystic in years, so it was fun to wander around the slightly eerie streets and despite the weather, snap some photos.

Go: San Gennaro Feast

The SAN GENNARO FEAST in Little Italy ends this weekend, so if you're in town stop by and eat yourself silly like I did - pizza, sausage and peppers, cannolis, oh my!

A work retreat brought me to Lake George this past week and I'm already trying to plan when I can go back. Just 4 hours north of the city, the timeless beauty of the area had me in awe. We stayed at the gorgeous SAGAMORE right on the lake and in between hours of meetings, we took advantage of the amazing views. If you're in need of a weekend getaway, this may be your new spot.

Go: Cruise

The New York skyline never ceases to amaze me. Have you ever taken a cruise around the city? I know, it sounds like a typical touristy thing to do, but it gives you a chance to take in the beauty of New York and see the sights from a different perspective...the water. I encourage you to get out there on the next nice day and take it all in. You won't regret it. Take a look at these beautiful shots from a recent work outing.

To put it bluntly, after coming back from an awesome weekend in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, going back to work sucked. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great, but when you're visiting one of your best friends, weather plays a minor part in setting the tone for the weekend. Time spent with good friends always guarantees A LOT of laughs, a ton of eating and drinking, and zero sleep. This combination, and perhaps the slower pace of life and just how nice people are (and pretty much every other trait that New Yorkers lack), leaves me contemplating a move every time I come back. Maybe one day it will happen? Until then, I'll settle for visiting every few months.

And we're back! After a much needed vacation to the Cape, I'm left feeling refreshed and restored tired and full. Drinking entirely too much wine and binge eating fresh lobster, bowls of clam chowder, and more carbs, carbs, carbs certainly has that affect on you. But aside from the eating and drinking, I got in a few beach days, went on a whale watch (amazing!), wandered around Provincetown, and enjoyed a rainy day at the vineyard. Drink: The Flatiron Room

I stopped by THE FLATIRON ROOM last night for drinks after work and immediately fell in love with this  classy place. Located in the heart of the Flatiron district, this spot is no trendy nightclub. Upon walking in you feel as though you're being transported back in time to a speakeasy. With one of the most extensive Whiskey collections on the East Coast, bottles line the shelves from floor to ceiling. You can casually sip your drink here (I had the Mule - delicious!) while enjoying some light jazz music. If you're a whiskey aficionado or just looking for a new place and a strong drink, give THE FLATIRON ROOM a try. 

Go: Central Park Conservatory Garden

Isn't it crazy that this 6 acre garden exists in NYC? Located on the East Side from 104th-106th Streets, here you can enter this designated quiet zone and escape the hustle and bustle. The garden is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll or to sit yourself down and enjoy a good BOOK. As you walk around, take in the beautiful greenery and the gorgeous flowers. Half of the time I was in awe of the natural beauty and the other half I felt like I was in Jumanji. If you're unable to get there, check out the pics from my visit below.

Go: Broadway Bites

BROADWAY BITES is back and just in time for bikini season. Seriously though, why do they time these pop-up markets like this? This pop-up brings together culinary businesses and chefs in Greeley Square Park (intersection of 33rd and Broadway). Red Hook Lobster Pound, Mayhem & Stout, NuNu Beers & Scoops...the list just keeps getting better and better, so needless to say I had to check it out.

Drink: Tequila Park

When you're having a rough time with life, or in my case with work, it's important to surround yourself with people you love being with and doing the things that make you feel happy. So I try to remember to do this and if not, I try to think about times when I've had a blast. Perfect example: celebrating my birthday with friends a few weeks ago. 

Eat: Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, and if you know me you know that this is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. Mexican food and margs? Count me in. I will personally be trying out a new place with some girlfriends, but if you're in need of some inspiration for a new spot to try, here are a few I love.

This past weekend while in DC, my boyfriend and I went to a couple great restaurants worth mentioning. Both were great pics to celebrate, and continue the eating binge, after the HALF MARATHON. If you're ever looking for a place to go, I would add both to your list.

Eat: Catch NYC

I confess. I have a list of NYC restaurants that i'd like to make my way to which has grown to over 170 (!!!) places. I got tired of always asking my friends where to go so I started keeping a list which has morphed to not just include restaurants that were recommended to me, but also includes places i've read about and/or seen while walking around or riding in a taxi, those that i've visited and my general thoughts on my experience while there.

Go: The Highline

This weekend we were blessed with some absolutely gorgeous weather in NYC. It was really the first time it actually felt like spring and was the perfect occasion to walk the HIGHLINE. While walking along the historic rail, you'll be sure to see beautiful views, art installations and apartments that will leave you green with envy. Should you're feet get tired there are small open spaces perfect for people watching or catching some rays. Definitely a must if you haven't been and a must-go again if you already have.

Opening Day

This past Thursday was opening day at the newest location of the DRYBAR - Midtown East. As soon as I heard this location was opening I jumped on the chance to book an appointment. Since discovering the Drybar a few years ago it has become one of my favorite places in NYC. I take all of my girlfriends when they visit and hoard their products.
