DC Eats

Image via THRIIVE
This past weekend while in DC, my boyfriend and I went to a couple great restaurants worth mentioning. Both were great pics to celebrate, and continue the eating binge, after the HALF MARATHON. If you're ever looking for a place to go, I would add both to your list.

Nike Women's Half Marathon Recap

The NIKE WOMEN'S HALF MARATHON was this past weekend in DC where 15,000 of us took to running the streets in hopes of achieving a personal goal, record, or just to have a great run. I'm extremely happy to say I was one of those women. We were blessed with a truly gorgeous day, unique views, great race-side entertainment and an awesome cheering crowd.

I'm off to DC today for the NIKE WOMEN'S HALF MARATHON. The weather is supposed to be beautiful and I'm really looking forward to a few days out of NYC. I'll be spending a day with my Aunt outside of Annapolis and then wandering around the city doing touristy things. My boyfriend has never been to DC before. Weird. Anyways, hope you have an amazing weekend! Will let you know how the run goes...

Earth Day

Snapped these beautiful photos this weekend when I was out for a run. The gorgeous color and abundance of daffodils has me inspired to get outside more and enjoy the spring. And, as if we don't hear it enough, a friendly reminder to take care of our lovely planet. Below are a few ways you can be more green.

Make: Tomato Soup

Recently, and by recently I mean a few weeks ago, I made this delicious Tomato Basil soup by adapting this RECIPE. This was SO yummy for a chilly night and even better the next day. I topped it off with some freshly grated parmesan cheese, because in my mind one can never have enough cheese, and it was the perfect touch. Know any other good soup recipes?

One week to go until the NIKE WOMEN'S HALF MARATHON in DC. This will be my first half and i'm a mixture of both nervous and excited for the big day. I've been training for the past few months so i'm definitely looking forward to seeing how all my hard work has paid off.

Eat: Catch NYC

Image via EMM Group

I confess. I have a list of NYC restaurants that i'd like to make my way to which has grown to over 170 (!!!) places. I got tired of always asking my friends where to go so I started keeping a list which has morphed to not just include restaurants that were recommended to me, but also includes places i've read about and/or seen while walking around or riding in a taxi, those that i've visited and my general thoughts on my experience while there.

Get Fit: Equinox Cycle Class

A couple weeks ago I took a class at EQUINOX as a "Networkout" through the Levo League NY chapter.

To start, where I was positioned in the class I couldn't see the instructor so I couldn't follow along as well as I hoped. RPM's were a major part of this class as we were pushed to keep it above 110 (which proved to be difficult for me). HOW do your legs move that fast while standing up?!?! I can't even walk that fast. However, I did try to push myself to actually get there and it made me wonder how hard I work during other classes where RPM's aren't a major focus.

Playlist: This is a BIG motivator for me when I take a cycle class. The music HAS to be good. It just has to be. The instructor's playlist was a jumble of songs with no flow and nothing to really keep me on the beat. Needless to say it wasn't very enjoyable.

While I enjoyed the class and love the concept of a good Networkout, it was no SoulCycle. Overall, I had a good workout and I wouldn't say I would never go back, after all it's Equinox and they're known for having some amazing instructors. But to me I love the pack feel I get at Soul (ok and maybe the dark room and candles help too).

Opening Day

This past Thursday was opening day at the newest location of the DRYBAR - Midtown East. As soon as I heard this location was opening I jumped on the chance to book an appointment. Since discovering the Drybar a few years ago it has become one of my favorite places in NYC. I take all of my girlfriends when they visit and hoard their products.
